Dr. Jonathan Panichella
Everyone calls me Dr. Jon - it's simple and easy. I like simple and easy. I love what I do for a living because I have the unique opportunity to make people smile more. How fun is that!?! I developed my interest early on in high school when my father, a physician, introduced me to an Oral Surgeon colleague in the Huntington area. I decided to work one summer with this Oral Surgeon to see if I liked it. He was charismatic, passionate about his work and patients were grateful for his skills and expertise. I was hooked! I was off to college with one goal in mind - Dental School. I obtained my specialty degrees in both Orthodontics and Periodontics at Columbia University. I enjoy treating patients whose dental care requires treatment from multiple dental specialties and to be a part of a team that restores a smile that may be hiding. My specialty education in both orthodontics and periodontics gives me a unique perspective on complex cases. My work passion is in creating a healthy and beautiful smile! When I'm not in the office, I enjoy restoring-well attempting to restore- antique projects. I am currently juggling a glass mailbox, an antique deli scale, a brass cash register and an old coffee grinder. I also like classic muscle cars and antique Lionel trains.
Dr. Danielle Panichella:
Please call me Dr. Dani. I grew up in West Nyack, NY which for some native Long Islanders is considered upstate. I come from a long line of dentists: my great uncle was a dentist, my father is an orthodontist and my two younger sisters are orthodontists, so it's in the genes! There are so many facets of orthodontics that I enjoy! I love the enthusiasm of a patient just beginning treatment. I love being able to put apprehensive patients at ease when they realize that an orthodontic adjustment isn't really that bad. I love the completion of treatment when the reward for hard work is a beautiful and confident smile! I obtained my DDS Degree at SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. I continued my education at the Bronx VA Medical Center with a General Practice Residency and then went on to Montefiore Medical Center for my Orthodontic Certificate. Outside of the office, I like to keep busy: baking, gardening and crafting. I enjoy working with my hands. I feel that orthodontics combines science, art, and creativity with people, all of the things I love!
We both attended Fordham University and SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. We are married (to each other) and live in Northport. We have three children, Katie, Alex and Charlie. We also have an adorable Maltipoo named Bentley (the only Bentley we'll ever own!).
We know what it's like to be busy managing work and balancing family life ~ homework, sports, orthodontics, dinner.
We understand how hectic life can become. We try to make our office comfortable and accommodating whenever possible and your appointments efficient and easy. We are always striving to improve our techniques to provide the best possible treatment options and treatment outcomes.
Kelley hails from Centereach, NY and although she loves Long Island, she also loves to explore new places and embark on road trip adventures. She is recently married to the love-of-her-life, Louis and is embracing the new challenges of married life. One of them being swallowed up by a much bigger family (Louis has 4 brothers and sisters!). Kelley is also the very proud aunt to two beautiful girls Sophia and Daniella. Kelley will greet you with a smile and her sparkly personality can never be dulled. She loves being involved in patient care, especially seeing the final results. She will ensure that you always have the appointment that you need (even if she has to “squeeze” you in) and will relentlessly champion for your insurance benefits. When she is not in the office, she enjoys cooking, especially anything with a Mexican flair (~ but really, she’d rather be taken out to dinner so she doesn’t have to cook and clean the dishes). If you call after hours, you may wait a few rings before she picks up the phone because she’s got Beyonce blasting in the background.
The Lucky Fan
Not only is Anna a fan of our office but she is a huge Taylor Swift fan. H-U-G-E! Anna has been to 7 Taylor Swift concerts. She was lucky enough to win tickets to two of them! She was also lucky and met Taylor Swift and her cats when she toured Taylor’s apartment in New York City! She’s also the lucky fan that is featured in a Taylor Swift book! The only thing Anna likes better than Taylor Swift is being a part of the Northport Orthodontics Team! When Anna is not following Taylor around the country (she has been known to fly off to concerts on occasion) or helping you with your beautiful smile, she is in East Northport with her family. Anna has a twin sister Marie. She enjoys reading, watching movies and travelling. Yoga helps her stay in shape and her father’s homemade pizza keeps staying in shape a challenge! Anna graduated from Siena College with a BS in Biology. Her favorite season is Autumn because she likes the cool weather, pretty foliage, fall festivals and pumpkin spice everything!
Ashley is our crafty team member. She loves to experiment with new crafts and recipes and give new life to old items. Ask her about her antique ladder to bookshelf transformation, her yarn projects and her current crafts, but only if you have a few hours! She has even taken over the office chalkboard with her fantastic art skills! Her favorite color is Granny Smith Apple Green and she loves Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Her bubbly personality will keep a smile on your face! Ashley graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College in January 2017 with a Bachelors Degree in Business. She grew up in New Hyde Park and is born and raised as a New York Mets fan. She has a huge extended family but recently moved to Kings Park and is busy making her new apartment a home with her boyfriend Anthony. Even though she doesn’t like cold weather, she loves the Holiday Season, her family traditions, decorating, baking and shopping.
Angie was born and raised in Medellin, Columbia. Angie is very passionate about everything she does (for Modern Family fans, think Gloria). She graduated with a Hygiene degree from New York University in 2004. She is enthusiastic about working with our patients and motivating them to get the very best result. Angie has the ability to connect with our younger patients to ease their apprehensions and relate with our adult patients to ensure their comfort. She loves football, her favorite team is the New York Giants. Her favorite colors are black and blue, except if it's a result of kickboxing and she loves sunflowers because they make her smile. Even though her favorite food is Italian, she is a master at making Spanish lentils and beans ~ her recipe is a closely guarded secret and every time we ask for the recipe, she brings it to us for lunch instead! Angie enjoys Manhattan for all of the culture it has to offer and will often attend shows on Broadway or Opera at the Met. She is the only daughter of three children and loves visiting her baby brother in Manhattan. She is at home in Huntington with her pug Oliver, her Boston Terrier Lulu and her German Shepard Talos.
Kelly is one of our born-and-bred Long Island girls. She loves Long Island beaches and photographing the beaches is one of her favorite hobbies. Kelly is our fiery red-headed “doer” because she gets things done. She keeps the clinical area of our office stocked and running smoothly and efficiently. One of her favorite things about being an orthodontic assistant is taking an active role in creating beautiful smiles. She fondly remembers the removal of her own braces and her transformation into her beautiful smile. When Kelly is not in the office she enjoys her proximity to New York City and often spends weekends visiting her favorite art galleries and museums. She has pioneered aerobic cleaning - that is, cleaning while dancing and listening to loud music. She is an avid hockey and football fan, her favorite teams being the New York Rangers and the New York Giants. She can be found on weekends spending time with her family and star gazing.
Have you ever known somebody who is a rock? Solid, dependable, unflappable and always there. That's Jennifer. In addition to working at both the Northport and Smithtown offices, she works with teens who have emotional concerns and developmentally disabled adults. When she's got free time, she is at the gym either kickboxing or cardio/weight training. When she's got free time and is at home, she likes watching Investigation Discovery and Netflix. She currently lives in Lake Grove but aspires to have a Voodoo shop on Bourbon Street in New Orleans (although we not-so-secretly hope that is far, far into the future). Her favorite thing about our office is meeting new patients and sharing in the process and excitement of transforming a smile. She feels that support, encouragement and education are all important to obtain a great result. Her favorite holidays are Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas, in that order, because she loves to eat, loves creepy things and loves spending time with her family.
